A Helping Hand

This Episode was brought to you by the Epilepsy Foundation in partnership with La Red Hispana.

Did you know that about 1 out of 10 people may have a seizure during his or her lifetime? That means seizures are common, however, many people do not know what to do when a person has a seizure leading to adverse outcomes or inappropriate treatment. Epilepsy is a chronic disease and a disorder of the brain that causes seizures.

Fortunately, the Epilepsy Foundation has a seizure first aid training, and it’s the only certification training program that ensures the public learns how to assist and supports the more than 3.4 million people living with epilepsy in the US. By offering SFA Training to an array of professionals, the Epilepsy Foundation will make certain the public health and health education workforce is better prepared to assure a Seizure Safe Nation. The training is also offered in Spanish at epilepsy.com/primerosauxilios

Even if no one in your family has epilepsy or you don't have epilepsy, it doesn't mean that you might never come across someone who has an epileptic seizure. If that ever happens, wouldn't you want to know what to do? That’s why you should take the Epilepsy Foundation’s Seizure First Aid Training Certification, because if the time comes, you'll be there to lend a helping hand.

For more information visit epilepsy.com or learn more about Seizure First Aid. The training is also taught in Spanish and is completely free. Visit epilepsy.com/primerosauxilios to learn more.
